You’ve lived in LA long enough to know how it works. Summer hits, everyone gets busy, and somehow you get to October and realize you barely left your neighborhood. If you’ve been sticking to the same dinner spots and calling it a night early, there’s a lot you’re missing.
This guide covers the events and spots worth getting out for this season.
Hollywood Bowl
The Hollywood Bowl’s 2026 summer season is one of the strongest in recent memory. July highlights include Lizzy McAlpine and Morgan James on July 17 and Bob Moses on July 24. August picks up with St. Vincent alongside the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra on August 2, ZZ Top with Cheap Trick on August 5, and Foo Fighters alongside the LA Philharmonic and Youth Orchestra LA on August 22 as part of the week celebrating Gustavo Dudamel’s final season as music director.
Bring your own cooler, picnic on the lawn, and get there early. Lawn seats are affordable. The August 22 Foo Fighters and LA Phil night is a once-in-a-career show and will sell out, so book that one now.
626 Night Market
The 626 Night Market is the largest Asian night market in the United States and it returns to Santa Anita Park in Arcadia for two summer weekends: August 14 through 16. Over 250 food, merchandise, and craft vendors show up alongside art, live music, and DJs. Each three-day event draws up to 100,000 people.
Tickets are available online and the general admission for Arcadia runs around $6 in advance. Go on Friday afternoon or Sunday to avoid the peak Saturday night crowds. Come hungry and wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be on your feet for hours.
HARD Summer
HARD Summer is back at Hollywood Park adjacent to SoFi Stadium on August 1 and 2. The 2026 lineup has Zedd b2b Knock2, Kali Uchis, DJ Snake doing a full hip-hop set, Mau P, Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens, RL Grime, Shygirl presenting Club Shy, and a full stage takeover from Berlin collective Live From Earth. The site layout has been redesigned with better flow between stages and an expanded Green Stage area.
This is 18-plus. Two-day passes are the move and the Live From Earth stage takeover is worth building your night around if you want something more underground than the main slots. Plan your rideshare or parking ahead of time.
KCRW Summer Nights
KCRW’s Summer Nights series runs free outdoor concerts across LA from June through September at public plazas and museum grounds, with KCRW DJs and live acts at venues including The Wende Museum and Noho Arts District. Most of these are free and spread across the city, so there’s likely one close to you.
Check kcrw.com for the full schedule. The museum and waterfront venue nights tend to have the best combination of setting and sound. Bring a jacket for evening shows near the water.
Spire 73
Spire 73 is on the 73rd floor of the InterContinental Downtown on Wilshire Boulevard. It’s the highest rooftop bar in the Western Hemisphere. Views stretch from Hollywood to the Pacific on a clear night, the cocktail menu is serious, and the crowd is polished.
Go on a weeknight to skip the weekend crowds. Reservations are necessary on Fridays and Saturdays. Ask for a spot on the east side of the terrace for the best panoramic view.
Yamashiro Hollywood
Yamashiro is a 1914 Japanese-inspired mansion above Hollywood with a wraparound terrace and one of the best views of the Hollywood sign and city skyline you’ll find at any bar in the city. Thursday evenings through the summer, they host a farmers market with local vendors and food alongside the full terrace experience. Get there early enough to watch the city lights come on as the sun drops.
Go Find Your Spot
Los Angeles has a lot going on this summer and most of it is either free or close to it. As a real estate agent in Los Angeles, I stay plugged into what’s happening across neighborhoods because it matters when you’re helping someone figure out where to put down roots. Summer nightlife is one of the best ways to understand what a neighborhood actually feels like.
Pick one spot from this list and get out there this week.
